During 2018 there was a total of 60 active projects in different stages of implementation. Each of these contributed to one or more of the NHRF's priorities of access to justice, work against discrimination and protection of defenders at risk. Almost half of the organisations implementing the projects were led by women.
The NHRF supported projects defending land and environmental rights, projects defending workers and migrants for better working conditions, families looking for justice for their disappeared, and supported marginalized groups in mobilizing and taking the lead in the struggle for their own rights – among other initiatives.
In November 2018 the NHRF also celebrated its 30th anniversary, looking back on three decades as a daring contributor to the struggle for human rights.
